One of the few corporate labs which is still doing some
basic research. AT&T Labs (formerly Bell Labs) is pursuing basic and
applied research in the following areas: distributed computing,
wireless communications, and networking. Much of their photonics
research is aimed at improving the fiber-optic network infrastructure
which is at the base of the internet. |
 |
The Optical Society of America was organized to increase and
diffuse the knowledge of optics, pure and applied, to promote the common
interests of investigators of optical problems, of designers, and users of optical
apparatus of all kinds. |
